TORONTO, ONBellwoods Brewery is about to turn a year old, and to mark this important milestone for the already much-lauded and award-winning brewery, there will be two anniversary beers, a new food menu – and, of course, birthday cake.

The official celebration will take place at the brewpub (124 Ossington Ave., Toronto) tomorrow – Saturday April 6th – with the debut of Bring Out Your Dead, an Imperial Stout aged for 3 months in congac barrels. It will be available on draught in the pub, with bottles to follow in the retail store sometime next week, and will be accompanied by celebratory birthday cake, and the launch of an expanded food menu for the brewpub that includes “pork belly and clams, coconut tofu in galangal broth, fried chicken, braised short ribs and deep fried pickles.”

As announced earlier this week, the name of anniversary beer number two is Motley Crü, and now we know the style as well – an 11% ale described as “a sour blend of Tripel aged for a year in red wine barrels, and Quad aged for 3 months in port barrels.” The Crü has been primed and bottle conditioned with Champagne yeast, and will be released when it is deemed ready, likely in a few weeks.
