VANCOUVER, BC – Granville Island Brewing has announced release details for three limited edition beers – one a new beer to launch a new series, the second a replacement for an older beer, and the third a returning favourite.
Available today is Cloak & Dagger Cascadian Dark Ale, the previously announced first release in the new Black Notebook Series. Named for the black notebook used by brewmaster Vern Lambourne to record ideas and recipes, the series will feature small-batch beers brewed at the original GIB location on Granville Island.
Following next Monday April 29th is Ginja Ninja Ginger Beer, a new seasonal beer that replaces the Ginger Beer previously available in the GIB Limited Release Series. While the older brand was an ale, this new one is a lager, and is described as having “a light body and low bitterness, which allows the fruity, yet subtly spicy flavours and aromas of ginger to stand out and be the star.”
Also coming soon (exact date TBC) is this year’s edition of Imperial IPA, an annual limited release beer that has been amped up slightly from previous versions, rising from 8.2% to 8.6% abv. Brewed to 100 IBU with Magnum and Amarillo hops, and dry-hopped with Chinook, it’s described as having flavours of “grapefruit, pine and tropical fruits along with a hop bitterness that more than stands up to this beer’s big malt body.”
For more information on all three of these beers, see the GIB website, Facebook page and Twitter feed.
