Mill Street Autumn Harvest Sampler Returning Next Week

millstreet_autumnharvestTORONTO, ONMill Street Brewery has announced that the autumn installment in its rotating seasonal six-pack line-up is set to return soon.

As with last year’s fall edition, the Mill Street Autumn Harvest package includes three bottles each of two different autumn ales – Mill Street Oktoberfest Beer and Nightmare on Mill Street Pumpkin Ale.

Mill Street brewmaster Joel Manning has provided the following notes about the two beers:

Nightmare on Mill Street Pumpkin Ale: For Fall we have produced this North American craft brewing style Ale that includes pumpkin in the brewing process along with a generous amount of complementary spices. This is a copper/orange brew with a faun-coloured, creamy head brewed with a blend of 5 malts (pale malt, wheat malt, biscuit malt, caramel malt and chocolate malt) along with unmalted wheat and pumpkin in the mash. US grown Nugget hops are used in the brewhouse for balance and a blend of 6 spices along with a touch of pure vanilla extract is added later in the process to lend this beer its subtle complexity. The result is a super smooth, medium-bodied amber ale with a spicy aroma and hints of ginger and clove on the palate and a lingering “pumpkin pie” aftertaste.

Oktoberfest Beer: This is a traditional Bavarian lager style brewed slightly stronger and aged slowly. Okotoberfest Beers belong to a style of beer called “Marzenbier” or “March beer” in English making reference to the fact that they used to be brewed in the month of March and then cold aged (“Kuhl Lagerbier” in German means cool-aged beer) until ready for consumption in September. Oktoberfest in Munich runs from the 3rd Saturday in September until the first Sunday in October with a couple of exceptions. Ours is brewed with a blend of German pilsner and Munich malts as well as biscuit malt to give the beer a deep golden colour and rich satisfying malt palate. German Hallertau variety of hop is used throughout the brew to balance the malt sweetness and create a rich complexity that is typical of this Old World style.

The Mill Street Autumn Harvest six pack will be available next week at select LCBO outlets in Ontario. Distribution in other provinces has yet to be announced.

  1. Fantastic! I love the pumpkin ale. Wish it’d be released as a standalone, even if only seasonally.
