VICTORIA, BC – Vancouver Island Brewery has looked back to a classic 1970s rock song to draw inspiration for a new beer in its line-up of limited seasonal releases.
Black Betty Blackberry Saison is a 6.3% abv ale that was brewed using blackberries from local winery and berry farm Coastal Black. It has the following tasting notes:
Black Betty Blackberry Saison is the result of combining local, hand picked blackberries and the unique, crisp and spicy characteristics imparted by a Saison yeast strain. The beer is dry, crisp and complex with hints of blackberry and spice. As the label says “We brewed this Blackberry Saison and the damn thing went wild!”
Black Betty Blackberry Saison is available now in a limited run of 650 ml bottles. An open house celebrating its release along with this year’s edition of Storm Watcher Winter Lager will take place at the Vancouver Island Brewery (2330 Government Street, Victoria) on Saturday, October 5th from 1:00 to 4:00 PM.
