NIAGARA-ON-THE-LAKE, ON – Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) Canada has announced that an alcohol-free beer created for the MADD Virgin Drinks line by a group of experts at Niagara College will soon be available in Canada.
MADD Virgin Craft Brewed Lager was developed via an extensive collaboration between the Niagara College Teaching Brewery, Niagara Research, experts and students from the Culinary Innovation and Food Technology program, and the College’s Canadian Food and Wine Institute.
One of the few completely alcohol-free beers on the market – having an alcohol level of 0.0% abv rather than the more typical 0.5% – the Lager was launched in June at select Walgreens stores in the United States. It subsequently took a gold medal in the alcohol-free category at the 2014 U.S. Open Beer Championship in July.
MADD Virgin Craft Brewed Lager will be on shelves soon at Shoppers Drug Mart, Sobeys and Metro locations across the country.
