TORONTO, ON – Bellwoods Brewery has announced plans to hold its first ever homebrewing competition this summer.
Jokingly described as being “inspired by the gladiator death matches popularized in the Roman Empire and anxiety ridden culinary competitions of the original Iron Chef Japan,” the contest is open to all legal-aged homebrewers in Toronto and area, with the grand prize being the opportunity to brew a 700 litre batch of the winning beer at Bellwoods where it will be served on draught at the bar.
Sample bottles for entry into the competition should be dropped off at the Bellwoods retail store (126 Ossington Ave., Toronto) during the week of May 25th to June 1st, 2015. The beers will then be judged “on the yum, wow-factor, and we-want-to-brew-this scales,” and the winner will be announced on June 5th, with the brew day to follow later in the summer.
