POWELL RIVER, BCTownsite Brewing has announced the release of the next installment in an annual series of beers inspired by a unique local landmark.

The Hulks Series is named after a group of ships known as “The Hulks” that make up a floating breakwater in the Powell River near the brewery. The series was initiated in 2012 with a Belgian Tripel called Charleston – which was subsequently promoted to become an annual seasonal release – and continued in 2013 with another Tripel called YOGN 82, and in 2014 with Cardena Belgian Quad.

For 2015, the series offers Le Chatelier, a 6% abv Belgian-style sour ale featuring a label designed by local artist Jessica Cherett.

“With this beer I decided to both sour it and age it on wood”, explains Brewmaster Cédric Dauchot. “The flavours are really complex, tart apple with oak undertones and lots of fruitiness from the Belgian yeast.”

Townsite Le Chatelier will be released next month in a limited run of 650 ml bottles at select private liquor stores in British Columbia.
