VANCOUVER, BCMolson Coors Canada has announced that it has sold its iconic 55-year-old brewery at the foot of Vancouver’s Burrard Street Bridge, and plans to relocate production a new facility elsewhere in the province.

According to CBC News, the proceeds from the sale – the amount of which has not been disclosed – will be put towards building a new plant for brewing and distribution over the next 2 to 3 years.

In the meantime, Molson will lease the existing plant from the new owners in order to continue production of canned and kegged product. (Production of bottled beer at the plant was shut down earlier this year.)

The report also notes that the company will be reviewing its Montreal plant to see if a similar move will be made there.
