HALIFAX, NS – At an event held late last week at Garrison Brewery in Halifax, the winner of this year’s edition of the annual Garrison Home Brew-Off Challenge was announced, and a commercially brewed edition of last year’s winner was served for the first time.
The winner of this year’s competition – which challenged homebrewers to create an Experimental American IPA – was Mark Power (pictured above), whose Chamomile IPA was chosen by a panel of BJCP-certified judges as being the best in a range of 44 entries.
The evening also featured the release of the commercial edition of last year’s winning beer. 2015 winner David Martin worked with Garrison brewmaster Daniel Girard to scale up his recipe for Mr. Robusto Robust Porter, and the result is available now in bottles at the Garrison retail store, and soon at private liquor stores & select NSLC locations in Nova Scotia.
