HALIFAX, NS & LONDON, ON – A pair of breweries have put out a call to their local supporters for a supply of rhubarb to use in upcoming brews.
In Halifax, Garrison Brewing is accepting drop-offs of fresh homegrown rhubarb in exchange for credit to put toward purchases in the brewery retail store. Once enough is collected, the rhubarb will be used to brew the first in a new U-Pick Series of beers based around locally sourced ingredients and flavours.
In London, the London Brewing Co-op is asking folks coming to their next pop-up shop this Sunday May 22nd at 623 Dundas St. to bring along 2 to 3 pounds of chopped frozen rhubarb to be used to make a batch of Neighbourhood Tart, a popular summer seasonal. Contributors will be given some free LBC glassware in exchange for their rhubarb, and the resulting beer will be available at an upcoming pop-up event.
