VANKLEEK HILL, ON Beau’s All Natural Brewing has announced the launch of a new project to assist the development of a new craft brewery in Rwanda.

Beau’s will be providing “financing, expertise, and hands-on employee training” to the brewery, which is being founded by Josephine “Fina” Uwineza (pictured left, with Beau’s CFO Tanya Beimers), an entrepreneur who has previously opened two restaurants in Rwanda’s capital city of Kigali.

Beau’s is also managing a Kickstarter campaign to raise $95,000 to purchase a bottling line, and has arranged the donation of a brewhouse from BC-based Newlands Systems. Newlands COO Christian Riemerschmid von der Heide has brewed in Africa, and will be working with Beau’s brewmaster Matthew O’Hara to help develop beer recipes suited for the Rwandan market.

While full plans for the new brewery are still to be finalized, Uwineza is intending on it being a brewpub in downtown Kigali that will also sell packaged product to take away, with beers made using as many local ingredients as possible.

For more details, see the Rwanda Craft Brewery Project page on the Beau’s website.
