Niagara College Considering Brewmaster Program

May 28, 2009 · Leave a Comment

niagaracollege_logoNIAGARA-ON-THE-LAKE, ONThe St. Catharines Standard reports that Niagara College is considering starting a 2 year brewmaster program at their Niagara-on-the-Lake campus, with the first courses to be offered as early as Fall, 2010.

Niagara College is already well known for their wine-making program, with the students producing a number of award-winning wines in the past couple of years, and many graduates going on to work at wineries in the Niagara region and elsewhere. College winery & vineyard manager Steve Gill told the Standard that the proposed beer program “fits the model of the Niagara-on-the-Lake campus, with the wine and culinary and beer. It’s another gastronomic feature of the campus.”

Should the program be approved, it will be the first of its kind in Ontario, and one of very few in North America.
