WINNIPEG, MB – Half Pints Brewing have announced that their Sweet Nikki Brown will be hitting shelves in Alberta this week. Here’s a description from owner/brewmaster David Rudge:
It’s an American Brown Ale brewed for my lovely wife, Nicole. Lots of up front, dark chocolate malt notes, with a snappy grapefruit hop aroma from a liberal Centennial dry hopping.
The bottle reads: “A little sweet and a little bitter, just like my wife.” So true…

Our Burlywine is now available in Alberta for a limited time. There are/were 50 x 24’s (341ml. bottles) available. Willow Park and Sherbrooke have their stock already. FYI, the 2008 wax colour is green, the 2007’s are red – there are a few cases out there with a surprise 2007 bottle and it’s just hitting its stride. Readers should check out Ratebeer if they’re nervous about shelling out for one of the top 50 beers in Canada (for 08 + 09). The BeerAdvocate reviews aren’t too shabby either.

WINNIPEG, MB – Half Pints Brewing have announced the release of their newest beer, St. James Pale Ale, which is being brewed especially for draught accounts in Winnipeg and area.
Here is how owner and brewmaster David Rudge describes the beer in a post on his blog:
This brew is gold in colour with a tight white head. The aroma is of sweet grain, while the body has a toasted honey character from the melanoidin malt we add. There’s an herbal hoppy nose from the Mount Hood hop (a Hallertau variety grown in the NW United States) and a fruity finish from a cool ale fermentation.
Stylistically speaking, this beer straddles the guidelines between a German Helles (a soft, grainy lager) and Kolsch (a lagered ale). It is an ale, but with a refined, almost lager-like finish from the cool fermentation.
