AMSTERDAM BREWERY vs. FLAT ROCK CELLARS
with CHEF SCOTT VIVIAN
at BEAST RESTAURANT
MONDAY, JUNE 18th, 2012
For this event in the Canadian Beer News Dinner Series, we hosted a friendly take on the old “beer vs. wine” rivalry, presenting beers from Amsterdam Brewery alongside wines from Flat Rock Cellars, and pairing them both with a convivial and communal style meal prepared by chef/co-owner Scott Vivian and his team at Beast Restaurant.
To make this dinner even more special, the dessert – created by pastry chef/co-owner Rachelle Cadwell – was served with an exclusive Amsterdam/Flat Rock collaborative beer – a Sour Cherry Imperial Stout aged on French oak chips. The first ever collaboration between a brewery and winery in Ontario, this beer was crafted by the brewing team at Amsterdam together with Flat Rock’s Ross Wise, who was a brewer in New Zealand before becoming a winemaker.
This event was also part of the 3rd annual Ontario Craft Beer Week, an extravaganza of beer events that took place all over Ontario from June 17th to 24th, 2012.
