NELSON, BC – Nelson Brewing Company, founded in 1991 and certified organic in 2006, is marking its 20th anniversary milestone with the simply named Nelson 20th Anniversary Ale.
The beer and brewery were recently profiled by the Nelson Star, with the article including the following description of the new brew:
(Owner Tim) Pollock describes the new anniversary brew as a Pacific Northwest riff on traditional English pale ales, or bitters as they’re sometimes known.
“We just thought we’d celebrate somehow, and the most obvious way was to make a brew that was in the tradition of our original brews,” he explains. “We just thought it would be fun, and it gives our brewer Mike Kelly a chance to show his chops and what he can do with the brew.”
The beer uses Cascade hops, a common ingredient in the region’s brews, which gives the ale a distinctive, tangy bite.
Nelson 20th Anniversary Ale is available now in BC and Alberta, with each 6 pack including an advertisement for regional business promotion group Invest Kootenay, evidence of the brewery’s strong connection to its community.
