CHARLOTTETOWN, PE – Based on a recent post to the Gahan Brewery Twitter feed, it appears that 1772 India Pale Ale is about to be launched in bottles, joining the brewery’s Sir John A.’s Honey Wheat and Island Red on PEI Liquor Store shelves.
1772 IPA has been available on tap for several years at the Gahan House Brewpub, where is has the following menu description:
Copper in colour, this medium bodied ale has the IPA characteristics of being high in alcohol with a very bitter finish.
To help launch the bottled version, samples of 1772 IPA will be offered at the pub and PEI Liquor Store locations this coming weekend.
UPDATE: In a subsequent tweet, it was announced that Gahan Iron Horse Brown Ale will also be released in bottles this weekend, and samples of both beers will be available at Liquor Stores in Charlottetown on Friday and Saturday.
Funny name for the beer and an implicit insult to Acadians as that is the year that Scots immigration began.
