HALIFAX, NS – As reported this past week in both The Coast and the Chronicle Herald, Halifax will be getting a new brewery later this year with the opening of Bridge Brewing.
The brainchild of Peter Burbridge, a business graduate at Dalhousie University and long-time employee of Java Blend Coffee Roasters in Halifax, Bridge Brewing will operate under a business model that is as sustainable as ecologically-friendly as possible. As Burbridge told the Chronicle Herald, “we won’t be zero-emissions when we start, we’ll be more of a typical brewery, but we plan to reinvest our profits in projects that move us towards our zero-emissions goal.”
Burbridge has recently signed the lease on a property in the city’s burgeoning north end, and is aiming for a July debut for Yardstick Ale, a 6.5% brew that will act as the brewery’s flagship brand, and which is described as follows:
Yardstick is a Belgian abbey style ale with a North American twist. Subtle fruit flavours present up front, as it opens up to a full body driven by a huge amount of malt and rounded out on a spicy black pepper finish.
More details are expected to be announced closer to the launch of the brewery.
