MONTREAL, QC – Molson Coors Canada has announced the completion of major improvements at its Montreal brewery thanks to an investment of $52 million, the largest amount spent on the facility in more than 25 years.
Changes include an expansion to the plant’s can production capacity – including the addition of a 355 ml and 473 ml can line, as well as 250 ml can production capability – and modernization of two previously existing bottling and kegging lines.
These upgrades will enable Molson Coors to produce all canned product for Quebec in the Montreal facility rather than importing from other locations, and also allows for the production of the company’s newest product, Coors Light Iced T, which is being brewed and packaged exclusively at the Montreal brewery for a nationwide roll-out next month.
Most impressively, the new modern lines will lead to savings of 8.4 million litres of water in the next year, bringing the facility closer to the aggressive water and energy reduction targets set by Molson Coors.
