GANANOQUE, ON – A year after launching as a contract brewing operation, Gananoque Brewing has announced plans to open a permanent brewery in the town from which it takes its name.
Set to open in early 2013, the brewery will be located in the Bell Tower, an historic building situated at 9 King Street East in Gananoque. The property is part of a group of 19th century buildings located next to the Gananoque River that originally housed shops and businesses that were instrumental in the early history of the town.
“The Bell Tower building is a Gananoque landmark with a deep history, special character and real charm,” says Gananoque Brewing founder Bruce Davis. “We will preserve and restore this important property to honour its legacy and create a space that showcases our locally-sourced products and supports an onsite brewing operation that will be a great new attraction to the town.”
Gananoque Brewing is currently seeking a short-term tenant to use the storefront space for the summer while renovation plans are completed. Work to prepare the building for the brewery installation will follow, with an aim to have the facility up and running early next year.
