VANCOUVER, BC – Coal Harbour Brewing has announced the release of Smoke & Mirrors Imperial Smoked Ale.
Brewmaster Kevin Emms provided the following notes about the beer:
I am very excited to bring to you this highly experimental beer from Coal Harbour Brewing. Having sampled many smoked ales and lagers I finally became curious enough to produce my own interpretation. Rather than going for a bacon-like flavour in the beer, I wanted a richer, fuller smokiness. This is attained from the peated and rauch (German smoked) malts in Smoke and Mirrors, which are complimented by roasted brewing malts that lend a slightly bitter dark chocolate taste. The result is a prolonged taste experience that unfolds on your tongue when the ale hits your mouth.
While I am very proud of this 8.5 % abv double smoked imperial ale, I am fully aware that it is not for everyone. If smoky flavour makes you think about a campfire only, then perhaps this is not what you want to drink. However, if you love your peated Islay Scotch Whiskys, Southern BBQ, and fine dark chocolates, you may have discovered your new favourite beer.
Coal Harbour Smoke & Mirrors is available now in 650 ml bottles at select private liquor stores in Vancouver and surrounding area, and in kegs via the brewery.
This is truly an incredible brew! I got a bottle of it for helping out a friend, and wow! it is that good. I can say only “try it” at least once and it will be on the top of your list for a long time.
