Voting Open for Final Round of Ontario Brewmasters Cup

TORONTO, ON – Following an initial round that saw 16 of Ontario’s best beers pitted against each other in four categories, public voting is now open for the final round of the Ontario Brewmasters Cup.

The OBC is a new award inaugurated this year by four Toronto beer writers: Ben Johnson of blogTO, Crystal Luxmore of The Grid, Greg Clow of Canadian Beer News, and Jordan St. John of QMI/Toronto Sun. Each of the writers chose an Ontario-brewed beer to compete in four categories – Lagers, Pale Ales/IPAs, Stouts/Porters/Dark Ales, and Wheat/Fruit/Flavoured Beers – and the top beer in each category was selected via a public vote.

The four category winners – Steam Whistle Pilsner, Muskoka Mad Tom IPA, Wellington Imperial Stout and Denison’s Weissbier – are now competing in the final round. Voting opened earlier this week, and will continue through the Labour Day weekend.

The overall Ontario Brewmasters Cup winner will be announced in early September, and an awards party will be held at Rhino Bar & Grill (1249 Queen St. W., Toronto) on Sunday September 16th during Toronto Beer Week.
