TORONTO, ON – At a judging and awards ceremony held last night at the Esplanade Bier Markt in Toronto, a team from beerbistro was named 2012 winner of the Samley Cup Canadian Homebrew Contest.
Sponsored by Samuel Adams, the Samley Cup is an annual competition that challenges local bar and restaurant staff to homebrew a high quality beer.
Teams from various establishments throughout Ontario completed in regional rounds over the past few weeks, and the top 6 were judged in the finals by a panel that included Dean Gianocostas (brewer at Samuel Adams), Jordan St. John (beer columnist for Sun Media), Crystal Luxmore (beer columnist for The Grid), Mirella Amato (founder of Beerology), and Cass Enright (founder of The Bar Towel).
The beerbistro entry was Bitter Waitress Black IPA, and its win means that the four team members will be treated to a trip to Boston to tour the Samuel Adams Brewery.
