FLORENCEVILLE-BRISTOL, NB – The Atlantic Canada Beer Blog reports that a new nanobrewery is planned to be up and running later this year in the small town of Florenceville-Bristol in northwestern New Brunswick.

Railcar Brewing is being founded by Mitch Biggar, a long-time homebrewer who grew up in the area and returned there two years ago after several years in Fredericton.

True to its name, the brewery will be located in a disused railcar on the Shogomoc Historical Railway Site. Brewing on a 50 litre system with  six 60 gallon fermenters, Railcar will launch with three year-round brands – Shogomoc Stout, Boxcar Blonde and Railcar 3 Red – as well as a monthly  series of one-off beers under the name Off The Rail Ales.

Biggar is currently working through the various tasks and details involved in a brewery start-up, and intends to have beer available for sale by late 2013 or early 2014.
