TORONTO, ON – The organizers of Toronto Beer Week – taking place this year from September 13th to 21st – have announced initial details for the 2013 edition of the Toronto Beer Week Homebrew Competition.
In a change from previous years, judging will take place several months in advance of TBW in order to allow commercially brewed batches of the winning beers to be available during TBW itself.
To accommodate this new schedule, registrations are due by May 1st, and entered beers must be delivered or dropped off by June 1st. Evaluation by BJCP-certified judges will take place in June, and winners will partner with various local breweries later in the summer to brew their beers for TBW.
Also new this year are two special categories: “Alcohol Challenged” for session-style beers with 4% abv and under; and “Conflicted Entrants”, a feedback-only category for homebrewers who are affiliated with Toronto Beer Week or a participating brewery or venue, and are therefore ineligible to win any awards.
For more details on the competition, see the announcement on the TBW website, and watch for further information to be posted soon.
