OTTAWA, ON – Omnivore’s Ottawa, food and drink writer Ron Eade’s blog for the Ottawa Citizen, reports that another new brewery is getting set to open later this year in the capital.
Turtle Island Brewing is a new start-up from J.P. Fournier – founder of National Capital Craft Beer Week and the WinterBrewed festival – as his fiancée Trish Watson. Named after an ancient Aboriginal legend in honour of Fournier’s Métis heritage, Turtle Island will be launched as a contract brewing operation at Broadhead Brewing while the pair works toward opening a permanent brewpub location.
Fournier tells Eade that he will be debuting Turtle Island this summer with three beers chosen from a larger list which includes “an ale with Ontario cherries, […] a cream ale with caramel, […] an interesting take on an old style like dark honey brown, or maybe a wheat beer with accents of mango.”
