TORONTO, ON – Earlier this week at Queen’s Park, the Speaker of the Legislative Assembly of Ontario, the Honourable Dave Levac (pictured above right, with John Hay, President of the Ontario Craft Brewers), invited Members of Provincial Parliament (MPPs), Queen’s Park staff and selected guests to an annual tasting and selection of craft beers from across Ontario.
19 members of the Ontario Craft Brewers were on hand to pour 68 of their beers for more than 300 tasters who cast ballots to choose their favourites. The winning beers will be available in the dining room and at catered events & receptions at Queen’s Park for the 2013-14 year.
The categories and winning beers for this year were:
Speaker’s Selection – Flying Monkeys Hoptical Illusion
Golden Lagers, Pilsners & Light Beer – Old Credit Pale Pilsner
Malty Dark Lager or Ale – TIE: Highlander Scottish Ale and Mill Street Tankhouse Ale
Amber Lagers & Ales and Honey Beer – Old Credit Amber Ale
Refreshing Ales – Beau’s Lug Tread Lagered Ale
Bold Flavoured Ale, Stout or Porter – Railway City Dead Elephant Ale
