TORONTO, ON – The organizers of Toronto Beer Week – taking place this year from September 13th to 21st – have announced the winners of the 2013 edition of the Toronto Beer Week Homebrew Competition.
In a change from previous years, judging took several months in advance of TBW in order to allow commercially brewed batches of the winning beers to be available during TBW itself.
There were 195 beers entered into the competition, and the brewers of the five top scoring beers have been partnered with five Ontario breweries to create full-scale editions of their winning recipes:
Jordan Rainhard, Flatline Imperial IPA – 5 Paddles Brewing
Geordan Saunders, Pain In The Rear Schwarzbier – Amsterdam Brewery
Jordan Rainhard, Armed N’ Citra American Pale Ale – Beau’s All Natural Brewing
David Thompson, Black Belt IPA – Indie Ale House
Chris Finnigan, Mystic Oyster Stout – Sawdust City Brewing
The full list of winners in all categories can be found on the TBW Homebrew Competition website.
