EDMONTON, AB – Alley Kat Brewing is celebrating the release of two new beers – one a collaboration with a brewery from half the world away, and the other a new installment in the Dragon Double IPA Series.
Collabrewation Porter was brewed last month when Søren Erikson from New Zealand’s 8 Wired Brewing was in town for the Edmonton Craft Beer Festival and joined Brian Westcott, head brewer at Alley Kat, for a brewing session. The pair came up with a recipe that included ingredients sourced from Alberta (malt, honey, and Saskatoon berries) and New Zealand (Nelson Sauvin hops, manuka wood smoke), and the result is a 5.6% abv porter that is being unveiled today.
Also out today is Gold Dragon Double IPA, the latest in the ongoing series of single-hop DIPAs. This edition is a 7.5% ale made with Galena hops, described as being “bold, peppery and with an aroma of black currants.”
Both new beers will be launched with an open house at the Alley Kat brewery today (July 4th) from 5:00 to 8:00 PM. Samples of the new beers and other Alley Kat brands will be available, along with food samples and brewery tours.
Following the launch party, Collabrewation Porter and Gold Dragon Double IPA will be available in 650 ml bottles at the Alley Kat retail store and select liquor stores in Alberta.
OK so that’s Gold, Blue, Green and Red Dragon? Somebody at Alley Kat is a major Dungeons and Dragons fan.
