VICTORIA, BC – Phillips Brewing won’t officially turn 12 years old until next month, but the anniversary is being marked slightly early with a pair of new releases.
The official anniversary beer is Monkey Drummer & The Incomplete Octave, an 11.9% abv strong ale described as follows:
We blow the candles out on 12 years of brewing in August but the taxman cuts off the joy of beer at 12%; to keep with our theme of matching the abv with our birthday, we’re forced to celebrate our anniversary a little early this year, and are proud to release Monkey Drummer and The Incomplete Octave for our 11.9 Anniversary. Full-bodied and absolutely loaded with hops, this beer is a Gorilla hop heavyweight.
Also out now Twisted Oak Rye Barrel-Aged Bock, the latest installment in the brewery’s Twisted Oak Stillage series of barrel aged beers:
Using generous portions of lightly-kilned rye malt, this robust bock spent its infancy cold-fermenting in stainless steel tanks before aging in selected rye barrels still wet from the distillery. Round, roasted sweetness mingles with warm vanilla and finishes with a hint of spice.
A dual release party will take place the Phillips tasting room this Thursday July 18th from 4:00 to 6:00 PM, and both beers will be available in 650 ml bottles at select private liquor stores in BC and the Phillips retail store for a limited time.
