TORONTO, ON – After a sell-out release last year, Amsterdam Brewery has announced the release of a new annual vintage of Mid Summer Saison.
Part of the Amsterdam Adventure Brews series of limited edition beers, Mid Summer Saison was brewed in the spring and then aged for three months in kegs kept in warm storage. The resulting 6.3% abv ale is described as follows:
Mid-Summer Saison is brewed using premium ingredients, including yeast from Wallonia, Belgium and German pilsner malt, which is floor malted by hand – an old fashioned method that is rarely used in modern brewing today. Coriander and lemon peel were also added to the brew while boiling, and when combined with the Wallonia yeast, it created an “initial soft yeast aroma with hints of lemon peel and pilsner malts.” The flavour of Mid-Summer Saison has the authentic flavours of Wallonia yeast and an underlying lemon and coriander background. Brewer Iain McOustra describes the beer as being “complex enough for a discerning palate but balanced and smooth enough to session with a dry finish.”
Amsterdam Mid Summer Saison is available now in bottles at both the Amsterdam Brewery and Amsterdam BrewHouse retail stores. It will also be on tap at the BrewHouse restaurant while supplies last.
