VANKLEEK HILL, ON – In an exclusive interview with Ottawa Magazine‘s online beer column Capital Pint, Beau’s All Natural Brewing creative director Jordan Bamforth has revealed details of a “surprise” beer that will be available at the upcoming Beau’s Oktoberfest 2013.
Along with the 8 beers announced several weeks ago, the event will also feature Dampfbier, a version of an obscure German steam beer style that was developed by students from the Niagara College Brewmaster Program who are interning at Beau’s under brewmaster Matt O’Hara.
According to the article:
No steam was used in the creation of this beer. It undergoes a vigorous fermentation process, which can make it appear as if it’s steaming, hence its name.
“It will have a clove/bubble gum aroma, fruity flavour, a dry finish, and effervescent carbonation,” Bamforth says. “And we worked with a local organic hop producer. We harvested the hops fresh and wet-hopped the beer. It’s by no means a hop bomb, but there are some nice hop notes.”
Beau’s Oktoberfest will take place October 4th and 5th at the Vankleek Hill Fairgrounds. For tickets and more details, see the event website.
