SAINT JOHN, NB – The Atlantic Canada Beer Blog reports that a new nanobrewery is getting set to open later this fall in Saint John.
Hammond River Brewing is being launched by Shane Steeves, a veteran homebrewer who is also a brewer at the Big Tide brewpub in downtown Saint John.
Steeves tells the Blog that he will be concentrating primarily on hop-forward styles, including an IPA, an American Pale Ale, a West Coast Style Red Ale, and an Extra Special Bitter.
The beers will be brewed on a 1 bbl system with each batch producing roughly 115 litres. The beers will be distributed in 20 litre kegs, with Saint John Ale House set to be the first licensee to pour Hammond River brands, and several other bars and pubs in Saint John planned to follow soon after.
