GUELPH, ON – Wellington Brewery has announced details of the next two installments in the Welly One-Off Series of limited edition beers, both due out before the end of the month.
First up will be Kentucky Common, a unique 4.5% abv ale that draws influence from another grain-based beverage:
After a trip to Kentucky to pick up some Bourbon barrels, the brewers at Wellington were inspired to re-create a traditional Kentucky Common. This unique beer is based on the grain bill of a fine bourbon, which is then sour mashed, and instead of distilling, brewers yeast is pitched. With a slightly tart flavour and mild roasted malt notes, this is a delicious beer with a rich history.
Kentucky Common will be released on Saturday November 23rd in a limited run of 473 ml cans at the Wellington retail store.
Following a week later on November 30th will be Yuletide Barley Wine, a 9.8% abv strong ale with the following description:
Celebrate the holidays by kicking back with this winter treat. Based on the traditional English style, this dark ale has a rich, full bodied malt with notes of chocolate, toffee and raisins. Best enjoyed in front of a roaring hearth with friends and family this holiday or cellared for future enjoyment!
Yuletide Barley Wine will be available in a limited run of 750 ml swing-top bottles at the Wellington store.
One more Welly One-Off is planned to be released before the end of the year, with details to be announced closer to the December release date.
