CAMPBELLFORD, ON – Church-Key Brewing has announced the release of the latest installment in its Heavy Weight Series of limited edition strong beers, this one also marking this past weekend’s celebration of International Gruit Day.
Namastale is a 6.5% abv juniper and rosemary gruit that is described as follows:
Brewed to commemorate the 2nd annual International Gruit Day, Church Key’s Namastale is a Finnish Sahti style. Gruit is an unhopped ale that predates the use of hops in beer, using instead spices and other botanicals. On the brew day, we lined the bottom of the mash tun with a basket weave of juniper boughs, then mashed Canadian two row barley and our own heated well water. Rosemary was added to the kettle to add depth to the spice. The result is piney with focaccia aromatics accenting the sweet two row malt.
Church-Key Namastale is available now in 650 ml bottles at the Church-Key retail store, and on tap at select licensees in Ontario.
