EDMONTON, ABAlley Kat Brewing has announced the release of the latest in its Dragon Series of colour-coded single hop Double IPAs, as well as details of an equipment expansion that will increase brewing capacity by more than 50%.

The new Dragon series release is Murasaki Dragon, a 7.5% abv ale that is described as follows:

This bold brew is single-hopped with Sorachi Ace variety hops. Originating in Japan, these hops are known for their citrus, bitter and bright leafy greens flavour. “But this dragon isn’t named after a colour?” Au contraire, dear friends. The name Murasaki Dragon is actually paying homage to the hops country of origin, Japan. Murasaki actually means purple in Japanese!

In expansion news, Alley Kat has installed four new 5,000 litre fermenters and three 5,000 litre storage tanks, increasing annual brewing capacity from 1.1 million to 1.7 million litres.

Those in Edmonton interested in getting a taste of the new beer and a look at the new tanks can drop by Alley Kat today (February 6th) from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM for an open house event featuring food, beer samples, and brewery tours every 30 minutes.
