HALIFAX, NS – While they may be located at opposite ends of the country, there has still been a fair bit of confusion between the two breweries – one in Vancouver and one in Halifax – that have been operating under the name Bridge Brewing.
So in a move intended to lessen that confusion – and perhaps to build goodwill with their cross-country compatriots – the owners of the Halifax Bridge Brewing have announced a name change:
We are excited to be starting our second year with a new name and an expansion of our capacity. As many of you know there is a Bridge Brewing Company in Vancouver and over the past year both companies experienced online confusion over who was who. We thought it was best to rebrand for our second year with a name that is all our own. The North End is our home and we have a strong sense of the direction we want to take this company; for those reasons we decided to change to North Brewing.
Aside from the new name, nothing else will be changing at North, which will continue to offer a selection of “unfiltered, unpasteurized, preservative free and naturally carbonated” ales in 750 ml swing top bottles and 1.89L growlers via its brewery retail store at 2576 Agricola St. in Halifax.
Next logical move: cross-country collaboration beer between the two breweries.
