TORONTO, ON – Last week at Queen’s Park, the Speaker of the Legislative Assembly of Ontario, the Honourable Dave Levac (pictured above right, with John Hay, President of the Ontario Craft Brewers), invited Members of Provincial Parliament (MPPs), Queen’s Park staff and selected guests to an annual tasting and selection of craft beers from across Ontario.
23 members of the Ontario Craft Brewers were on hand to pour 87 of their beers for more than 350 attendees who cast ballots to choose their favourites. The winning beers will be available in the dining room and at catered events & receptions at Queen’s Park for the 2014-15 year.
The categories and winning beers for this year were:
The Speaker’s Choice: Mill Street Original Organic Lager
Golden Lagers, Pilsners, & Light Beer: Steam Whistle Pilsner
Amber Lagers, Ales & Honey Beer: Old Credit Amber Ale
Wheat Beer or Specialty: Cameron’s Rye Pale Ale
Refreshing Ales: Highlander Lion Grass
Malty Dark Lager or Ale: Lake of Bays Spark House Red Ale
Bold Flavoured Ale, Stout or Porter: Amsterdam Boneshaker IPA
this article is offensive .these mpp’s are the same ones that want to keep this as is .i have personally emailed Levac as he is my local mpp .i asked about changing things with our FOREIGN OWNED BEER store .sell in grocery stores or change things up to allow micro brew to compete better an i get the same NOPE ,comment .lcbo is better than beer store ,at least you can get some micro brew there but its still not great .these same MPP’s are talking out of both sides of there mouth .
I won’t begrudge them a beer, although they’re average beers
