CALGARY, ON – Mill Street Brewery has dispelled rumours that it will be taking over a recently closed restaurant in Calgary to open a Mill Street Brew Pub location – although the door remains open to an expansion into the city in the future.
Fueled by a post on local lifestyle blog I’m Mr. Fabulous, rumours quickly spread about Mill Street moving into a space on Calgary’s 17th Avenue that was recently vacated by Melrose Café & Bar. But in a statement released earlier this week, Mill Street co-founder Steve Abrams said the following:
Although it is no secret that Mill St. would love to open a brewpub in Calgary, we have had no discussions or plans regarding any project that included the space currently occupied by the Melrose Café & Bar.
We continue to search for the ideal location in Calgary that will accommodate a small brewery and allow for tours, tastings and some office space. Ideally we would like to be part of the growth of a developing neighbourhood. We are indeed being very patient with our search but hope to call Calgary home in the near future.
CBN will continue to monitor any developments in this story, and will report if and when Mill Street officially secures a location for a Calgary outpost.
