BAYSVILLE, ON – Lake of Bays Brewing has announced that the second beer in the NHL Alumni Signature Series: Masked Men – a set of four limited edition brews created to honour goaltenders from throughout the National Hockey League’s history – is now available.
Cujo Imperial Golden Ale is named in tribute to Curtis Joseph, the fan-favourite goalie who won more than 450 regulation games during his 21 years between the posts for teams including the St. Louis Blues, Edmonton Oilers and Toronto Maple Leafs.
The 8% abv strong ale is described as follows:
This full bodied ale pours with an old gold, copper, burnt orange hue topped off with dense ivory coloured foam. The aromas start with caramel and butterscotch with a wisp of toasted whole grain bread and honey. Shortly after, fruity notes appear, led by apricot and sultana raisins and are capped off with a slight aroma of toasted nuts. The body begins with a slightly sweet flavour that drifts into apricot and orange marmalade. There’s also some nice bready characteristics accented by a touch of nut. Starting with a sparkling, champagne-like feeling, the dry finish is full, lingering and warming.
This second beer in the series follows China Wall Vienna Dark Lager, a beer dedicated to the legendary Johnny Bower that was released late last year.
Cujo Imperial Golden Ale is limited to 16,000 bottles, and is available now at the Lake of Bays retail store and to subscribers of the Lake of Bays Signature Series Club mail order service. It will soon be released at select LCBO outlets in Ontario, as well as in Manitoba, Alberta and several areas in the United States.
Proceeds will benefit the NHL Alumni Association, an organization that serves as a “passionate advocate for greater quality of life benefits for all former NHL players.”
Coming up next in the series will be Jake The Snake Imperial Pilsner, a white ash wood aged strong lager named after the nickname of Jacques Plante. More details are expected soon.
