COBOURG, ON – William Street Beer Co. quietly opened its doors this weekend in Cobourg, Ontario, and as is becoming typical at new brewery openings across the country, it didn’t take long for its initial supply of beer to sell out.
In a post on the brewery’s blog, owner Sean Walpole writes that William Street opened at 10:00 AM on Saturday with no advance notice, and by 3:00 PM, the entire bottled stock of the flagship North Shore Blonde Ale had sold out, along with a small pilot batch of Wheat King IPA.
North Shore is also available on tap at 92 King, a recently opened gastropub in Cobourg that specializes in craft beer.
William Street’s retail store will be open for limited retail hours through the spring – 12:00 noon to 6:00 PM on Thursdays and Fridays, 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM on Saturdays – selling bottles of North Shore and Cliff Top Pale Ale. Hours will increase in the summer, as will be brand selection, with the release of the seasonal White Sail Wheat Ale planned in a few weeks.
