MONTREAL, QC – Quebec beer writers David Lévesque Gendron and Martin Thibault have received a significant honour in the world of food and drink book publishing, as their two-volume set Les Saveurs Gastronomiques de la Biere (Éditions Druide) has been named Best Beer Book in the World at the 2014 edition of the Gourmand World Cookbook Awards.

Held on May 20th and 21st in Beijing, the 2014 edition of the Awards – which were founded in 1995 by Edouard Cointreau, with “the objective of increasing knowledge of food and drink culture around the world” – featured entries from 187 countries in numerous categories.

From the dozens of entries in the Beer category – a selection that also included Joe Wiebe‘s Craft Beer Revolution: The Insider’s Guide to B.C. Breweries as the top pick for English Canada – Gendron & Thibault’s book made a shortlist of seven before ultimately receiving the top honour.

Les Saveurs Gastronomiques de la Biere is currently available only in Quebec and France, and only in French, but the authors are hoping to find an English publisher to release a translated version.
