TORONTO, ON – The 2014 edition of Ontario Craft Beer Week – presented by Ontario Craft Brewers – will be kicking off this coming weekend, and details have been announced for a pair of beers that will officially represent the week.
OCB’Wheet Beer is a unique beet and wheat ale crafted by Jon Hodd & Mike Lynn at Black Oak Brewery. It’s described as follows:
The Ontario golden beets were roasted first to caramelize the flavour and then added to the boil. B’Wheet is made with wheat and Vienna malt and some British hops, super Galena for bittering, East Kent Golding for flavour and Sorachi for aroma. This slightly bitter, fuller bodied wheat has nice earthy undertones, a lovely flowery hoppy flavour and will be nice on a hot day.
Also available this year will be the 5th annual edition of Pan-Ontario Blend, a blend of barrel-aged and strong beers from various Ontario breweries overseen by Beau’s All-Natural Brewing. This year’s version is a blend of Matt’s Sleepy Time Belgian-Style Imperial Stout from Beau’s, a special Canadian oak barrel-aged version of Oast House Biere de Garde, and Sawdust City The Princess Wears Girl Pants Belgian Golden Ale.
Both beers will be available at select bars, restaurants and events during OCB Week, which takes place June 13th to 21st, 2014 throughout Ontario. For more details, see the OCB Week website.
