CHARLOTTETOWN, PE – CBC News reports that upcoming changes to the Prince Edward Island Liquor Control Act will lift the limit on alcohol levels for beers brewed in the province.
PEI breweries and brewpubs are currently limited to brewing beer no higher than 6.5% abv, while stronger beers from out of province are allowed to be imported and sold in PEILCC retail stores.
The cap will be lifted as of this Saturday October 25th, and Jeff Squires of PEI Brewing tells CBC that the brewery is planning to take advantage of the new rule as soon as possible.
