COOPERSTOWN, NY – The fourth and latest in a series of beers from New York’s Ommegang Brewery inspired by the HBO television show Game of Thrones is set to be released soon in Ontario.
Brought into the province by import agency Horizon Beers, Valar Morghulis is an 8% abv Belgian-style dubbel that is described as follows:
In the world of Westeros, Valar Morghulis means “all men must die.” Fans of the show chose the foreboding phrase as the name of the newest beer in the Game of Thrones collaboration between HBO and Brewery Ommegang. Valar Morghulis possesses a deep chestnut brown color with a persistent and creamy tan head. Rich aromas of caramel, toffee, ripe fruits and burnt sugar, with a hint of cloves. The taste is delicately balanced with rich malty sweetness, caramel and just enough bitterness to balance out its malty backbone. A surprisingly dry finish is light on the tongue, which belies the initial aroma.
Ommegang Game of Thrones Valar Morghulis Dubbel Ale will be available in 750 ml bottles at select LCBO locations in Ontario for a limited time. The retail price and exact release date have yet to be confirmed.
The fifth beer in the collaborative series, Three-Eyed Raven Dark Saison Ale, is due for release in the spring of 2015 to coincide with the premiere of the fifth season of the program.
