Sierra Nevada To Be Available in Ontario Next Year

TORONTO, ON – Beer writer Ben Johnson reports on Ben’s Beer Blog this morning that revered American craft brewery Sierra Nevada Brewing will soon be shipping its iconic Sierra Nevada Pale Ale and other brands to Ontario via import agency Von Terra Enterprises.

Andrew von Teichman, president of Von Terra, tells Johnson that the agency has been talking with Sierra Nevada for several years, and finally convinced them to enter the market after a visit earlier this year where they met with LCBO representatives to tour warehouse facilities and discuss distribution logistics.

Initial plans call for Sierra Nevada Pale Ale to be available on tap in February 2015 exclusively at the six Bier Markt locations in Ontario, before a wider roll-out in March. Bottles are also expected to be available on the shelves at the LCBO in March or soon after. All stock will be shipped from Sierra Nevada’s North Carolina brewing facility, ensuring the beer will be as fresh as possible when it arrives in the province.

When asked about the possibility of other brands coming into the province, von Teichman indicates that Torpedo Extra IPA is likely to follow on draught and in bottles not long after the Pale Ale launch, and that seasonal brands should be available on draught at select locations starting in the summer or fall of 2015.
