CANMORE, AB – Grizzly Paw Brewing has announced the release of limited sour editions of three of its brands.
The special versions of the three beers – Indra Island IPA, Big Head Nut Brown and Barley Wine – have been aged in French oak barrels from BC’s Kettle Valley Winery that previously held Caboose, a fortified blend of Malbec and Petit Verdot grapes.
The resulting beers are described as follows:
INDRA ISLAND IPA (7% abv): Deep orange in colour, a tart citrus aroma is initially present with hints of hay and spice. Flavours of white grapefruit lead a spicy citrus character that finishes dry, crisp and wine like.
BIG HEAD NUT BROWN (7% abv): Ruby red with a candylike fruity aroma. Initially acidic, sweet dark fruit notes present followed by a dry bright finish that lingers on the palate.
BARLEY WINE (9.25% abv): Mahogany in colour, rich malty notes of caramel and toffee present in the aroma and body. A smooth sweet finish becomes dry with hints of wine and dried fruit.
All three beers are available now at both Grizzly Paw retail store locations, and at Willow Park in Calgary.
