CHARLOTTETOWN, PE – PEI Brewing has announced the return of a brand that was briefly available last fall in a limited edition mixed pack – although while the name on the can is the same, the beer inside has been given an overhaul.
Black Banks Cascadian Dark Ale was previously a blend of two other PEI beers – 1772 IPA and Sydney Street Stout – but now it’s been brewed to its own new recipe. The resulting 6.2% abv and 50 IBU beer is described as follows:
Named after an area in western PEI where the shore appears black from layers of peat moss, Black Banks Cascadian Dark Ale is deceptively dark. It’s like a little lie in a glass. At first you might expect strong roasty/coffee aromas, but instead you’ll get a snoot-full of bright citrus and tropical hop aromas gliding just above mild but rich chocolate and bread crust.
Black Banks will debut on tap at the PEI Brewing tasting room and retail store next Tuesday January 13th, with 473 ml cans rolling out soon afterwards at the retail store, PEILCC locations, and select ANBL stores in New Brunswick.
