GANANOQUE, ON – The Kingston Whig-Standard reports that Gananoque Brewing has been awarded a federal grant that will allow it to move more production to its facility in the town of Gananoque.
The $60,000 grant – which is contingent on the company raising an equal amount on its own – will provide funding for the brewery to install a canning line and increase brewing capacity. This will allow the brewing and packaging of beer for retail sales currently taking place at a Niagara region brewery under contract to be moved to the main Gananoque facility, where packaging is currently limited to kegs for licensees.
It’s expected that the expansion will lead to four new jobs, adding to the 12 staff already employed at the brewery.
Great news. Craft breweries in Ontario need to get bigger to meet demand. Real expensive though.
