TORONTO, ON – While rumours have been floating for a while that a second location of popular craft beer destination Bar Hop planned for Toronto’s Entertainment District will include an on-site brewery, it appears that another establishment in the neighborhood will be beating it to the brewing punch.
Opening in several phases at 31 Mercer Street starting next month will be Odd Thomas Bar and Mascot Brewery, a multi-level bar, nightclub, beer garden and brewpub founded by restaurant and entertainment industry veteran Aaron Prothro.
First to open will be Odd Thomas, a nightclub and lounge on the second floor that will feature craft beer and fresh cocktails overseen by head bartender Jay Meyers, and light & shareable snacks from chef Rory McGouran. With a “carefully curated selection of Mascot Brewery beers alongside rotating local guest taps,” Odd Thomas will offer a tableside mini-keg service as a unique twist on the bottle service available at other venues in the area.
Also opening next month is a rooftop Bavarian-style beer garden that will feature a menu of pretzels, schnitzel and sausages to complement the beer. Following in June will be launch of Mascot Brewery on the first level, with a full service restaurant and bar, and a brewhouse producing beers developed by brewmaster Michael Duggan of Duggan’s Brewery.
The soft opening for Odd Thomas is set for May 9th, followed by a Grand Opening party on May 14th. The rooftop beer garden will debut on May 15th, with the brewery and street-level brewpub planned to open in late June.
