TORONTO, ON – Bellwoods Brewery has announced details of the first installment in a new series of barrel-aged and blended beers.
Set to be released under the name Barn Owl – a name originally announced last fall for a special barrelled edition of Monogamy Centennial which is still aging – the series will be kicking off with a sour ale blend that was fermented with brettanomyces and aged between 12 and 18 months on ginger, apricot, and cranberry.
The result is described as follows:
Blend No. 1 is a strangely harmonious combination of flavours that work together seamlessly, in a style that almost lends itself more to cocktails than beer. Aromatics of candied apricot, ginger, warming spices and soft brett, give way to moderate acidity balanced by bright, juicy flavours that reference the tart cranberries. Great medium body and an off-dry finish.
Barn Owl Blend No. 1 will be released on Friday May 8th at 11:00 AM exclusively at the Bellwoods retail store. The release is limited to just over 2500 bottles, which will sell for $11 each with a limit of 8 bottles per person.
